Yes it's dry, but this book will tell you exactly where the money is in the entertainment business. I was impressed with how up to date it is too -- this was revised in 2014 and it deals with online video -- how the movie business is monetizing it and the challenges it poses for the future.Ulin understands the role and incentives of every player in the distribution chain, from years of experience structuring deals. This kind of information makes this a book that is worth buying and keeping around. I've also read the competing book by Edward Epstein -- that one is entertaining and has a lot of fun anecdotes, but it's out of date and didn't have much in the way of takeaways.For the next edition, I hope Ulin will do more on marketing and distribution to overseas markets including China, and more on digitalization of cinema. This edition still discusses the cost of doing a print of a film!

I throughly enjoyed its complexity and exhaustive nature of distribution, delivery and various tolls placed before content reaches its intended doorstep.Highly recommendable to insiders and novices alike.Excellent tutorial on economics of media distribution!

Each of the narrators had positive and negative traits and multiple layers. Liam was my favorite character, wise beyond his years. The parents had fewer dimensions. The mothers were integral to their daughters' issues, while the fathers were more supportive and nurturing. Despite Bree's meanness, I could see how she came to be that way.THEMES: bullying, depression, suicide, mental illness, parent, siblings, familiesBACKLASH should be required reading for parents and kids before they're allowed to touch social media.

Backlash is amazing. Littman is an excellent author with a talent for writing from multiple perspectives while still maintaining a focused plot. The bullying is horrible and surprising (you'll see why). Littman delicately handles the issue of bullying, showing the truth of its ugly face and how responsibility comes with it. It's hard to say much more without giving things away, but I can say that I enjoyed the characters; they were well developed and all of them play an important role in Lara's situation. I also appreciate seeing the character growth. As a bonus, we have Sydney, Lara's younger sister--everyone needs a friend like Sydney. The one fault I found was Liam's perspective: his POV sounded like Lara's sister; I couldn't tell it was a boy, so a more clear distinction in voice would be helpful. But the novel more than makes up for that small flaw by not downplaying this serious issue and threading the actions through a moral code.

This is an excellent book that I think not only young adults could take something from, but adults as well. Backlash is the perfect title! This is not "the same old OMS Secrets". In the two previous versions, the answers to the questions were much more geared towards surgical rounds and would give 1 line answers, just as if you were on rounds. This book can be used as supplement for board preparation because the answers are complete paragraphs with elaboration and explanations. I am enjoying reading this version of Secrets and find that it is much more complete that the previous two versions. Nice job, Dr Abubaker et al.

Personally, studying with the question and answer format is very productive. This is not going to provide a base of knowledge but is useful for the common questions that you will get in residency and a good review of details before tests.

Perfect as reference, fast to skim through. The new edition maintain it's succinct and easy to read format, while making a more complete argument for each question.The south Asia edition is a very high quality product for the price, about the same size as the original.

High yield & succinct information. Enjoyable to read and nicely organized so you can flip to pertinent topics of your moment quickly.

Updated/ added chapters make this text worth purchasing if you have the old edition.
