This is a life-changing book.First, read "Proof of Heaven." Then read "The Map of Heaven." Then read this one and all of the author's book. I could not put them down. Underline, highlight, and/or journal these mind-bending concepts. Eben Alexander is a courageous author. If you are experiencing grief in any form, read this book. If you are afraid of dying, read this book. If you want to break out of a religious-oriented-philosophical box, read this book. If you are confused about life after death, read this book. If you want to make your life meaningful on this earth, read this book. Just read all of Eben Alexander's books.
This book is part of a continuing adventure into the realm of near-death experiences, and is credible because of the educational and professional background of the author. It is written well, but much of the technical content is of a nature of material that one almost has to have experiencedin order to grasp. I was not so impressed with the last few chapters in which are described attempts to relive the metaphysical experience that areclearly life-changing. On further thought, I came to realize that a scientist dealing with something primarily subjective would want to apply scientifictests to better understand the phenomenon. The book and his previous writings are a testament to the courage of a respected professional whohas dared to believe that there are processes involving the mind that are beyond our ken, and who can thereby bring the gift of hope to thosewho fear the end of physical life.
I apppreciate getting to follow the author's decision to assist many others in understanding, to a large extent, his experiences as he went through his very odd and unexpected time of being very much out of touch with his previous life. I have done some study on near death experiences, particularly in the that area since I read Dr. Alexander's first two books, I very much appreciate his efforts to be as straightforward as possible in his sharing of his story. I think it is a very worthwhile read and offers some extremely thoughtprovoking ideas to anyone who chooses to take the time to read the book.
I received this two weeks ago and what a book it is. It is written by a medial doctor who had an incredible near death experience. Now he has changed his perspective about consciousness. He is very incredible in his depth and writes simply providing many references. I suggest that people who have interest in this field read this book. It is a super one. I just hope he keeps writing in greater detail
An absolutely fantastic and comprehensive book by Eben. Eben has scoured what we know today in science in an effort to explain what he knows intimately about the true reality behind appearances. He has been there and back again fired up by his life-changing experience to give us a bridge toward placing that true reality within the context of our paltry scientific understanding of things, and built a knowledge trail that can help each of us get started on our own journey towards the true reality beyond appearances. Highly recommended.
I've had a few books through the last twenty years that have led to paradigm shifts in my life, this was one of them. It has led me down a brand new path of exploration. Immense gratitude for these two sharing their wisdom. Namaste.
