I should have paid closer attention as the Skyhorse Publishing reprint of the 1954 Betty Crocker Good and Easy Cook Book is a 8 1/2-inch by 5 1/2-inch paperback. It is not spiral bound. The original 1954 Good and Easy Cook Book was sold as a spiral bound cookbook. I've never seen a hard back edition of this cook book, but I suspect there was one. For ease of cooking you will need to use a cookbook holder to read the Skyhorse Publishing reprint edition. The paperback will NOT lay flat.The 2017 reprint seems to contain all the original recipes and photos found in the original cookbook. This is a replacement copy book. My original one was purchased when my children were little and when the family broke up one of the kids wanted it so I let it go. It had hand prints and finger marks on favorite pages, cute things written in the margins, all little memories of wonderful time spent with the kids. I know this isn't the original but it does bring back the memories and even the smudge on the front is a loving memory. Thanks for this book.

So glad to be able to find this cookbook. My old one was falling apart after 50 years of use. There are lots of great recipes in this book that cannot be found elsewhere!

This cookbook would be perfect for a child or young adult but is too basic for anyone who has prepared anything more than eggs. I have an old paperback version of an earlier Betty Crocker cookbook that I used so frequently that it is falling apart. I was hoping for something similar to her old cookbook. Notably, there are few recipes in this version.

I was really excited to have found this - and especially at a good price.our own old standard family copies of Betty Crocker got much worse for wear over the years, so an e copy is easier to use - and even to let read aloud when hands are messy.Love the photos, and the few suggestions with new edits as to what some modern substitutes are for items in old classic recipes - even if I am old enough to remember.Great to pass on and share with the current generation !

I was very disappointed - it just wasn't what I expected. No TOC to speak of (no page numbers), no index. No pictures to speak of, sad-looking graphics (OK, I understand they are 1954 graphics). In the Kindle version, the figures/graphics, for example at location 127, are broken up awkwardly (part of the row shows up on the current page; the rest of that row appears on the next page). If I could get my money back, just for the principle of it, I would.

Am so grateful that, at the age of 74, I have access to Amazon.com now and can find and replace my favorite cookbook! I thoroughly enjoy cooking, and have a collection of fine recipe books. Yet, to this day, my beat-up, falling-apart cookbook, that I have used since 1956, is still the one to which I turn for basic ingredients, time and temperature information for favorite recipes. Am replacing it today. I wanted to thank Simon and Schuster for keeping this one in print, but, alas, discovered only used copies of this particular book were now available. So I bought a "used" one that was "never read." Thank you, someone!

This was one of my first "married" cookbooks. I still use it after 50 years of marriage. Well worth paying the price for one in like new condition.

Internationally renowned power skating coach Laura Stamm has been coaching hockey players for more than 38 years. She is recognized as the pioneer of modern power skating in North America. The first woman ever to coach a major league professional hockey player, Stamm showed the hockey world how important skating technique is to a hockey player’s success.Stamm has taught at hockey schools throughout the United States and Canada. She has worked with college and youth hockey players, U.S. Olympic team members, and professional players, including many NHL stars. Several of her former students went on to become NHL coaches and general managers. Laura has also taught thousands of minor league pro and amateur players how to increase their speed, agility, and efficiency on the ice.Stamm has worked with the Los Angeles Kings, the New York Rangers, the New York Islanders, and the New Jersey Devils, and the Atlanta (now Calgary) Flames. Her Power Skating System has been employed by prestigious hockey teams around the world.Stamm has conducted power skating clinics throughout the United States and Canada since 1973. She has personally trained and certified her own team of instructors who teach her Power Skating System worldwide.In addition to authoring three books and numerous articles on hockey skating, Stamm has been a frequent speaker at coaches’ symposiums, camps, and conventions around the world. I'm a new ice skater. I used to play roller hockey as a teen. Now I'm old and have a son that's getting into ice hockey. I started skating to practice with him. I have learned so much through this detailed book. Even one thing his coaches were telling him to do wrong. It is very detailed making it a great tool to learn from. It's divided in sections. The beginning says the book would progress from beginning to advanced practice drills. Well that wasn't referring to what I thought. So if you need to work on stopping skip to the section on stopping and start from there. The book will teach moving forward and then get into way advanced moving forward drills a beginer can not accomplish way before even discussing stopping. It's taught me what proper technique is and as I develop more skill and balance I am able to focus on doing the movement correctly. I have recommended this book already to many other skaters I see often. Of note in the online USA Hockey magazine I get there is actually an ad for one of her clinics. It's such a well done book after reading it you will be advancing yourself as well as being able to help others improve their skills.

This is hands down one of the best technical manuals for skating I've ever encountered. I have been skating 27 of the 29 years I have been alive, played inline hockey all through highschool and undertook many different endeavors on quad speed skates through the 90s. After 20 I took on ice skating and really fell in love with power skating. I've been, ironically, using this manual while coaching a roller derby team in the last year and my players have become night and day from when I started. In one year they made more progress than all three years before I came around. Often they tell me that skating didn't make sense to them until I started teaching them, and though the sport is different from hockey, the Laura Stamm method still applies. I have had tremendous success grooming players up to be better skaters, and have learned a lot forbmyself along the way. Whether you are a beginner or whether you are an advanced skater looking to better understand your craft.. If you are serious about skating you need this book.Next I'm gonna buy the DVD. I bet the two will be great paired together.

I have been using this book and the companion DVD for about 18 months. I bought them together after I made the decision to start playing rec league ice hockey at the tender age of 48! What you get out of them is going to depend a lot on what type of learner you are and your motivation. The DVD will appeal to those inclined to the visual, copycat approach. If you prefer to work through the process analytically with descriptive detail, then the book is better than the DVD. I've found them to be excellent complementary learning tools.There are many paths to success. I have also attended power skating classes and adult hockey camp. A private lesson with a figure skating instructor identified and corrected a posture problem in my backward crossovers. That could have taken months to work out on my own.The bottom line is that ice skating is an extremely difficult, non-intuitive activity. To get good at it, you simply have to make the commitment of time, energy, and yes money that's required to get out there and practice, practice, practice. This book and other resources can help, but there are no shortcuts or substitutes for lots of hard work on the ice. If you are willing to do this, you will be richly rewarded with superb skating skills that will make a huge difference in games. I am already playing at the intermediate rec league level and enjoying it a bunch.

Not only has it allowed me to get all of the basics quickly, it taught me the all important lesson of what to focus on when I'm practicing these skills. I will be using this book for many years to help me continually refine my technique. Although there are some differences between ice and inline skating, all of the techniques covered in this book relate directly.This book is priceless!!!!!
